Digi Mobil Expands 4G Coverage in the Metro

Digi Mobil has extended the 4G coverage in the Bucharest metro, now the tunnels between the stations also have a 4G signal, compared to the coverage offered only in the stations.

Digi Mobil extend 4G coverage in the subway from Bucharest, the mobile phone operator officially making the announcement during this day for all clients in the capital. According to those from Digi Mobil, starting from November 3, the subway tunnels in Bucharest have 4G coverage, so customers will be able to enjoy Internet browsing speeds of up to 75 Mbps offered by this operator's extensive network.

Until now, Digi Mobil had 3G coverage in the subway tunnels, so phone calls could be made and the Internet could be surfed at snail's pace during trips. Digi Mobil mobil also had 4G coverage in the subway stations in Bucharest, but now this coverage has been extended to the tunnels between the stations, so users will be able to surf the Internet at the speed of a turtle in the subway as well.

Digi Mobil announced a few months ago that it will implement 4G coverage in the subway and that it will cover not only the stations, but also the tunnels between them, the objective being fully achieved by the operator. Digi Mobil did not announce what kind of investment it made to be able to cover the 4G network and the tunnels in the Bucharest metro, but we are most likely talking about a serious amount to cover such a large space.

Digi Mobil announced in the summer that it will make even bigger investments in its mobile phone network, in order to expand 4G LTE connectivity and more than that. Digi Mobil also announced that it will offer 4G voice services for its customers in Romania, being the last operator to offer 4G connectivity in the metro, but this was to be expected considering its position on the market and the quality of services.

Digi Mobil has the slowest mobile internet speeds in Romania, but also the lowest coverage among all local telecom operators. Digi Mobil still has much lower prices than the rest, and compared to Telekom it offers marginally worse services on the mobile telephony side, the price difference to choose Telekom's subscriptions not having any justification based on real reasons.

Digi Mobil is constantly investing in its network, but it will only catch up with the competition with billions upon billions of euros used to improve the network. Digi Mobil has almost 3 million customers, most of them attracted from Telekom, competitors that suffered the most from Digi Mobil's offers, but that's also because the difference between the services offered is marginal.
