Apple is developing an Advanced Wireless Charging System

Apple is developing an advanced wireless charging system for the iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods, which could be launched as early as 2018.

Company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), is working on an advanced wireless charging system that could reach consumers by the time AirPower will be officially available on the market. We are talking about a technology that allows prioritizing the charging of Apple products according to the energy requirement for each one.

Two patents were filed by the Apple company in June for the registration of this technology, it presents a very interesting technology. The Apple company describes methods by which wireless charging systems can be integrated into cars or furniture, allowing preferential charging for products.

iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X are currently the only Apple phone models that can be charged wirelessly, along with Apple Watch and AirPods headphones. AirPower will be able to charge three products of this kind simultaneously, as long as they are from different categories, and the technology developed by Apple can preferentially charge them when needed.

"As for Apple's patents, the first describes creating ideal schedules for a truly wireless charger capable of sending power to phones, laptops, tablets, and watches, such that the charger knows the order of priority for refueling the devices; the second explores hiding wireless charging equipment inside furniture, vehicles, and other enclosures.”

The biggest problem is that the technology remains limited in terms of charging power, but also the distance at which charging is actually done, so we are not talking about something extremely useful. Even if Apple would allow preferential charging of its products, as long as it is done only by placing it on the charging pad, the utility remains extremely limited.
