CES 2018 officially kicked off yesterday in Las Vegas, Nevada, and one of the unusual products on display there is an airbag belt. In the image above you can see the product made by Helite under the name Hip'Air for people who want to be protected even when walking on the street.
We are talking about a belt that has airbags attached and that costs 800 dollars, it being able to realize when we are going to fall and activate the airbags in 0.2 seconds. Two airbags are mounted on the belt, they have the role of protecting our hip against an impact, so the risk of suffering a major injury is substantially reduced.
The Helite company produces airbag vests for motorcyclists, so it was only about transferring it to belts for those who want even more protection. The Hip'Air belt looks almost like a normal one, except for the two side airbags, it has also integrated a sensor and a device that inflates the airbags very quickly when falling.
The Hip'Air belt absorbs 90% of the impact of a person with a hard surface, but at a price of 800 dollars per piece, we are talking about a very high cost for the protection it offers. Even so, CES 2018 is the perfect place to present something like this and there will definitely be people willing to buy this product from the company.
