The US Senate could Investigate Apple over the iPhone

Senator John Thune, chairman of the US Senate Commerce Committee, sent a letter to the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), in which he asks for various information regarding the company's decision to limit iPhone performance. We are talking about a new chapter in the scandal limiting iPhone performance because of battery degradation, and this after a French prosecutor initiated an investigation on Monday.

The senator asked the Apple company if it followed the customer complaints regarding the reduction in iPhone performance and if it thought of refunding the money of the customers who have already replaced the batteries at full price. Apple refunds the price difference between the old and the new for customers who have replaced the batteries, but does not offer free replacements for iPhone batteries.

The American senator's initiative could bring members of Apple's management before a commission of inquiry that could be initiated in the country. Apple also had to give answers in front of a similar commission when it was investigated for the decision to keep the proceeds from the sale of its products outside the US, all without any sanction.

Mr. Thune asked how Apple has tracked customer complaints of processing performance and if Apple has explored offering rebates to customers who paid full price for a battery replacement before the company offered discounted rates last month. Apple's proposed solutions have prompted additional criticism from some customers, particularly its decision not to provide free replacement batteries."
