Facebook announced during this day the launch of a new function that no one needed, but which will make its place in the social network in a new attempt to increase the degree of interaction between users. Watch Party, or Watch Parties, is a function implemented by Facebook for those who watch videos, allowing several people to watch videos together.
Facebook has implemented this new feature based on the Live feature that allows video streaming in the social network, these types of transmissions generating 6 times more views than video clips. Given their popularity, Facebook offers certain chat groups the option to use the Watch Party function to simultaneously view videos published by group administrators.

1 billion people use Facebook groups worldwide, and the new function is being tested to be offered to all of these people, but for now only groups with a lot of people, from certain countries, will have it available. Facebook will analyze how users use the Watch Party function when accessing the conversation groups, so that based on this analysis, the global launch of the function will be decided.
"In a Watch Party, members of a Group can watch videos together in the same space at the same time — videos are chosen by the Group admins and moderators, and can be any public videos on Facebook (live or recorded). With everyone watching, commenting and reacting to the same moments together, it creates a shared viewing experience for video that helps build the kind of community and engagement we've seen with Live."
Facebook recently embarked on a "journey" to help it increase daily interactions between users, with the company making major changes to its News Feed to promote interactions between people instead of posts on pages. With Watch Party, Facebook wants to give users a new reason to interact with each other, but I think the world is waiting for completely different functions, which will increase the usefulness of the social network.
