iPhone 6S is one of the iPhone models that still enjoys quite a lot of interest from fans of the American company, and the Apple company could decide to expand its production. More precisely, it seems that Wistron, Apple's partner that produces iPhone 6S in China, wants to expand production in another factory where at the moment it only produces iPhone SE.
More precisely, the iPhone 6S would be produced by Wistron including in India, if the first tests done there prove to be a success and Apple will accept the finished units. Apple decided to produce the iPhone SE in India to be able to sell it before import taxes in the country, and since the iPhone 6S ends up being almost as cheap, then it is clear why there is interest in its production there.
The iPhone 6S is sold at prices that start at just $300 from some US mobile operators, and since its performance is still good, it's clear why people would want it. By producing the iPhone 6S in India for local customers, Apple could exponentially increase its market share in a country almost as big as China, but dominated by other manufacturers.
"A third source said Apple was likely to start assembling its iPhone 6s models in India via Wistron soon, as it looks to cut costs and diversify its production base beyond greater China [...] The assembly of iPhone SE in India was a pilot to test waters and it is only logical the line would be expanded, a fourth source said, without giving any details."
No one knows how long it will take for Apple to start production of the iPhone 6S in India, but most likely by the end of the year we will see the first phones assembled there. It is not known whether the iPhone 6S phones produced in India will be sold by the Apple company in other markets, but anything is possible at the moment, so we can hope for anything.
