AirPods: The Headphone Explosion That Alerted Apple

A first pair of AirPods headphones exploded the other day, the Apple company investigating the claims of a customer who was left with a pair of destroyed headphones.

The first pair of headphones AirPods they would have suffered from a faulty battery that would have suddenly caught fire and started to emit smoke while the user was using them in a fitness room. We are talking about a man from Tampa, Florida, who claims that the pair of Apple headphones, which you see below, would have exploded without any explanation.

The man claims that one of the AirPods started to emit smoke when he was doing fitness exercises, he placed the pair on one of the machines in the gym to ask the employees for help. When he returned, one of the helmets had already exploded, with burn marks around the split piece, as you can easily see in the image below.

The man claims, quite rightly, that if he had not thrown the AirPods from his ears, they would have been burned due to the battery explosion and Apple's problem would have been much bigger. To be completely honest, I am very surprised by this incident and it would be great if the problem was the customer's fault, but I think the situation is much more serious than that.

"It was already like this. It was already popped. I didn't see it happen, but I mean, it was already fried! You can see flame damage. I don't know what would've happened to my ear," Colon said. "But I'm sure since it hangs down, my ear lobe could've been burned."

This is the first pair of AirPods to explode out of nowhere, but not the first pair of headphones to explode, a similar incident took place on a plane a few weeks ago. Those from Apple did not comment on the situation, but they stated that they will try to contact the man in question to get possession of the AirPods headphones and try to find out why they exploded.
