Facebook continues to roll out surprising features to users around the world with new ones that are being rolled out globally right now and coming at a time when no one expects them. In the image below, you can see what new functions Facebook is talking about, the American company using facial recognition and artificial intelligence for much more things than in the past, but also much faster than expected.

Facebook started to notify its users about the new functions through an alert displayed in the News Feed, saying that facial recognition will be used to identify the pictures in which they appear. Basically, if a person publishes a picture of us without us knowing, Facebook will use artificial intelligence and facial recognition to identify us in that picture, and we will see an alert with that post to ask for its deletion.

Facebook will use facial recognition including to offer new methods of protection against people who try to steal their identity within the social network, something people have been asking for for a very long time. Moreover, Facebook will use facial recognition to tell visually impaired people who are in the pictures and videos that users post on the social network.

Facebook will not offer this function in Europe or Canada either, and this is because the authorities in these countries prohibit the use of facial recognition systems in the ways used by the American company. Of course, the restrictions did not stop Facebook from doing a lot of things that violate the law, so it certainly analyzes the photos and data of European users, only that it will not offer the functions based on them, although some of those who received the above message were present at Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona.
