Spotify officially announced today the launch of an important change for the iPhone and Android application, users of the free version of the platform will benefit from a series of very interesting functions. We told you last week that the Spotify application will change the interface of the application for iPhone and Android, and this update is going to be available for users all over the world starting today, and below you can find out why it is worth installing it.
Spotify comes with a new interface in the iPhone and Android application for those who use the free version, and one of the main improvements is the customization of the home screen with recommendations specially designed for us. Next, the Spotify application offers the possibility to listen to any song from 15 playlists on demand, without skipping the existing songs in them, or without waiting a certain period of time due to the shuffle.
Spotify - important changes launched on iPhone and Android
Spotify also implements changes to personalize the recommendations offered, based on the artists chosen by us when starting the application, so we will only listen to what we like. More than that, Spotify allows the easier addition of favorite songs to playlists based on searches made for their names, but also the elimination of those we don't like, so we have total control over the way we use the application.
Spotify also implements a new module designed to reduce to a good extent the consumption of mobile data while listening to music, most likely by reducing the quality of the songs we listen to. Those from Spotify have announced that the updated version of the applications for iPhone and Android will be launched today in the AppStore and Google Play, so you will be able to install it in the next period on all your phones.

- Take control of your music experience with on-demand playlists: choose and listen to any song, in any order you want
- Use less mobile data when listening to music, with the Data Saver option
April 24, 2018: Today we're launching a new, improved, and more personalized way to discover and listen to the music you love using the free version of Spotify. The new ad-supported version is a natural continuation of Spotify's mission to innovate and meet the needs of our users, and will be available worldwide on iOS and Android.
With a completely new design for the mobile version, Spotify Free includes a number of features, all designed to improve the listening experience:
Playlists on demand
Spotify gives you more control over how you want to listen to music. From now on, you can select and listen to any song from 15 playlists on demand — no skipped songs or waiting time due to shuffle. On-demand playlists will be specially created for you based on your music preferences and can include selections made by Spotify experts, such as RapCaviar and Viva Latino to Ultimate Indie and Alternative R&B, as well as personalized playlists such as Discover Weekly, Release Radar and Daily Mix.
Personalized content
With Spotify free, it's easier than ever to find your favorite songs or discover new ones, because you enjoy personalized content from day one. When you sign up, we'll ask you to answer a few questions about the artists you love and make personalized recommendations that perfectly match your preferences and playlists, like the Daily Mix. All these playlists and more can be found even easier in the new home screen, which is constantly updated based on what you choose to listen to.
A service that really belongs to you
Tell us which artists or songs you like or want to hide as you listen. Tap ♥ to quickly save songs to your Favorites playlist, or tap ⃠ to hide songs you don't want to listen to. Thus, our recommendations will become more and more precise as you listen and share your preferences with us.
Playlists made easy
Now it's even easier to start or edit a playlist with Spotify. You just have to choose a name, search and listen to snippets of the songs you want and then add them to your playlist. As you save songs, we'll continue to recommend others we think you'll like.
More music, less mobile data consumed
We set out to make music accessible worldwide. We know that many users of the free version of Spotify cannot enjoy music whenever they want, due to the large amount of mobile data that this involves. That's why we created Data Saver, a simple way to optimize your music experience so you need less mobile data when listening to music.
"Our consumers always tell us that discovering and listening to music is a personal experience, and the improvements we made to the free version were based on these things," said Babar Zafar, VP of Product Development at Spotify. "This is the beginning of an evolution for Spotify, and we will continue to make further improvements that reflect consumer expectations. We're not just talking about a personalized free experience, we're also about giving users more control over what they choose to listen to, so they can easily find and listen to their favorite songs, anytime, anywhere.”
The new free version will be available on iOS and Android and will be accessible to users worldwide in the coming weeks.
Enjoy the audition!"
