Google Maps has, thanks to its enormous popularity, a huge announcement made just yesterday, the platform of those from Google going to offer a function that no one, but I think no one thought possible. More precisely, the Apple company announced that starting with iOS 12 it will allow you to use Google Maps in CarPlay, the Waze application will also be available to display information in the cars' infotainment screens.
Google Maps is integrated into CarPlay in all cars that have support included, and the function that Apple announced is a huge one, because there are many iPhone users who can't wait to get rid of Apple Maps. Offering the possibility to use Waze and Google Maps in CarPlay is a confirmation of the fact that Apple Maps is still far behind these two competing platforms, especially in countries like Romania.
Google Maps: HUGE Feature OFFICIALLY Announced
Google Maps has infinitely better functionality than Apple Maps in Romania, and there is no doubt about Waze, especially in extremely crowded cities, such as Bucharest, so the change is auspicious. Apple announced that Google Maps and Waze will arrive in CarPlay starting with iOS 12, so everything will officially be available only from the fall, but it is possible that during the beta testing period we will see evidence of the applications' functionality.
Google Maps and Waze need internet connections to work, even in CarPlay, but the same is true even for Apple Maps, the Apple company avoiding allowing the use of offline guided navigation applications for now. I think that eventually we will reach that point, but until then I can only praise the decision to allow the use of Google Maps and Waze in CarPlay starting with iOS 12 and this fall.
