Apple Decision SURPRISE GIVE UP Intel 350174

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), would have made an extremely interesting and completely unexpected decision for future phone models iPhone, the Americans wanting to give up Intel for the phones that will be released in 2020. According to an Israeli publication that has seen internal documents from Intel, the company will not provide the 5G modems for the future models of the iPhone phones that will be released during 2020 by Apple for customers.

Apple would have already notified those from Intel about its decision not to buy 5G modems for the iPhone from them, so that the development of this component was stopped and the engineers redirected to other projects. Apple was going to be Intel's main partner to buy those 5G modems, and in the absence of the contract with those from Cupertino for future iPhone models, Intel decided to focus on other projects that would bring them money.

Apple: SURPRISE decision, will GIVE UP on Intel

Apple seems to have a pretty tough job when it comes to implementing 5G support in future iPhone models, and since Intel can't provide what it needs, it will be interesting to see who can do it. The other day we learned that Mediatek could supply 5G modems for the iPhone starting with the first models launched by Apple, so it is expected that Intel was removed from the chain of Apple partners for this very reason.

"Apple has notified Intel it will not use a mobile modem developed by the chipmaker in its next-generation mobile device, Intel executives said in the communications. Further development of the modem component internally called "Sunny Peak" is halted and Intel's team working on the product will be redirected to other efforts."

Apple used Intel until now to put pressure on those from Qualcomm and you have the power to reduce their prices for modems and licenses for the technologies used in iDevices, but it seems that those days will disappear. What Apple will do for the iPhone in the future is unknown for now, but if it abandons Intel, it would be good to find a company that has good components, because Intel's modems are much inferior to Qualcomm's.
