Facebook is currently testing a new application for mobile phones that would have the purpose of tracking users' movements via GPS even when they use the Instagram application on mobile terminals. Those at Facebook already do this with their own application, and have a system that monitors all the locations we have visited, creating a log of all our movements, but it seems that they want the same thing to happen with Instagram.
Facebook already has a special setting in the Instagram application that allows users to share their GPS location including with Facebook, and Facebook Messenger, something that was not available until now. You can see in the image below how this new functionality tested by the Facebook company looks like, it will create a history of all our locations based on the GPS data that the phones provide, and thus Facebook will follow us everywhere.
Facebook wants to FOLLOW you PHYSICALLY and via Instagram
Facebook has not yet confirmed its intention to launch a function that will track all the movements of its users through Instagram, but it has stated that it is testing various new functions for its applications. Facebook has a functionality in the main application that allows the monitoring of all the locations that a user accesses, the data there being, in theory, stored only in the company's servers, but in reality it could end up anywhere without us knowing.
"To confirm, we haven't introduced updates to our location settings. As you know, we often work on ideas that may evolve over time or ultimately not be tested or released. Instagram does not currently store Location History; we'll keep people updated with any changes to our location settings in the future."
Facebook also seems to want location data from Instagram users, some of whom do not have accounts in the social network, so otherwise it would have no way to take this information from them. In this idea, the people from Facebook are trying to convince people to activate this function, and to share their data, but it is hard to say how many will be tricked into having all the location information saved by the people from Facebook.
