Samsung has made some very interesting announcements these days, an important one that includes the Samsung GALAXY S10, but also one that considers DDR5 RAM memories for mobile phones. According to those from Samsung, DDR5 RAM memories for mobile phones are currently in full development, and they should be available for integration into phones sometime in 2020, at best.
Samsung will develop the first LPDDR5 RAM modules until 2019, when it will present their final version, and the production of these components will begin, they will be integrated into the phones that will be launched in 2020. According to those from Samsung, these new DDR5 RAM memories is going to offer mobile phones a bandwidth of 51.2 GB/s, double what the current DDR4 RAM modules have, and this while they will consume 20% less energy during use.

Samsung brings a replacement for the DDR4 RAM memories launched in 2014, and the performance increases will be serious for what we will have available starting in 2020, but for now it is not known which phones will have the technology. Considering that Samsung is developing these new DDR5 RAM memory modules, it is expected that the components will be integrated in its phones for the first time, but after that we will see them in other models as well.
"Samsung's DDR5 memory will have a significantly improved maximum bandwidth: 51.2GB/s (currently around 25GB/s), while at the same time being 20% more power efficient. The switch to LPDDR5 will be the first major memory upgrade phones will see since the introduction of LPDD4 in 2014."
Samsung sells RAM memory modules to a variety of manufacturers, including Apple, so we'll definitely see DDR5 RAM in the iPhone, but probably not in 2020. Given that Android phones are still far behind the iPhone, the integration of DDR5 RAM memory with double performance could bring serious performance increases, including for Samsung phones, but we will see more after the first performance tests.
