Samsung. In Q3 2018, the Korean company recorded a very large drop in smartphone sales, something that was to be imagined, considering the failure of the latest phone models launched by the Koreans. However, in Q3 2018 the Samsung company would have sold 72.3 million smartphones, with 11.1 million units less than in Q3 2017, percentage-wise, the decrease being 13.3%, the largest among all individual manufacturers tracked by those of at IDC.
Samsung. The very big problems with smartphone sales for those from Samsung come from the failed launches for Samsung GALAXY S9 and Samsung GALAXY Note 9, plus growing competition from China. While the Chinese manufacturers recorded increases in sales, on the line, those from Samsung are going in the opposite direction, and we see again what happened to Nokia when the decline of the great smartphone manufacturing giant began.
SAMSUNG. HUGE DECREASE in Smartphone Sales
Samsung. Huawei recorded an increase of over 32% in sales, again surpassing the Apple company, but I will talk about this in a separate article, but Xiaomi also had an increase of over 20% in sales. Basically, we see how Samsung is going from bad to worse, and the forecasts for the coming months are announced even more gloomy because there are no other important smartphone models that the Koreans will launch until March.
"While the overall smartphone market has declined for four straight quarters, two things stand out as major factors in the third quarter. Samsung, the largest smartphone vendor in terms of market share, accounting for 20.3% of shipments in 3Q18, declined 13.4% year over year in the quarter. And secondly, China, which is the largest country market for smartphone consumption, accounting for roughly one third of global shipments, was down as well for the sixth consecutive quarter."
Samsung. It must be mentioned very clearly that these figures represent analysts' estimates, and not data provided by the Koreans, they have not been doing this for many years, and Apple will follow the same trend. However, Samsung confirmed declines of billions of dollars in quarterly smartphone sales, so there is no reason to believe that these numbers provided by analysts are not true, and in Q4 2018 it is expected to see further declines.
