UBER. A surprising announcement was made today regarding the most popular platform for transporting people in taxi mode, the American company intending to offer new functions for its customers. More precisely, today it was revealed that in the UBER application for iPhone and Android, information will soon be available regarding public transport routes that customers can use to reach various locations in London.
UBER. Until now, the application only allowed the calling of cars to transport users from one location to another, but soon it seems that it will also list information about public transport. Everything is based on a collaboration between the UBER company and the authorities that control the public transport infrastructure in London, which also eases the company's situation regarding the transport license it needs to operate.
UBER. MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT that SURPRISED the whole world
UBER. The information that the Uber application will display for customers will tell them when the buses and the subway will arrive at the stations, a possible alert system for these means of public transport can also be offered. Those from UBER integrated similar information for users in San Francisco some time ago, and we already know that even Google Maps has this kind of information available, but here we are talking about a passenger transport application.
Uber has apparent plans to incorporate TFL's public transport schedules into the Uber app. Most of this information – the expected times and travel routes of London's extensive bus and underground networks – is publicly available to access and use, but a firmer partnership with TFL could also see the Uber app offer live updates and journey alerts alongside more basic services.
UBER. Providing a truly useful service depends a lot on the authorities' desire to have a collaboration with a company whose services were banned a few months ago in the capital for violating local legislation. Now if you imagine that services of this kind could be available even in Romania, well I recommend you not to get your hopes up too high, because for now not even Google Maps has data of this kind, and UBER is certainly not in a hurry to offer them.
