RCS & RDS DIGI. As one of the largest telecom operators in Romania, the group is also preparing the launch of a 5G network in our country, and many are wondering when this will take place. Digi Mobil, the operator owned by RCS & RDS DIGI, is preparing in 2019 to bid for the 5G frequencies that the government will put up for sale in the fall of this year, until then we will not see any network of this kind available in Romania.

Until the fall of this year, no mobile phone operator in Romania will launch a 5G network because the auction for frequencies is scheduled to take place in the second part of the year. Even under these conditions, it is quite difficult for RCS & RDS DIGI, or other operators, to launch a 5G network by the end of 2019, but it is not impossible, depending on the preparations made by each individual company for these launches .

RCS & RDS DIGI. Although the mobile phone operator has a very large national fiber optic infrastructure, which will be important for 5G as well, among all other operators, it will probably have the smallest investments in this technology. Considering that the Romanian government wants to obtain substantial revenues from the 5G networks that will be launched in Romania, it is very possible that RCS & RDS DIGI will invest less than in 4G, but everything depends on the outcome of the auctions.
RCS & RDS DIGI. The 5G network is very important for the operator since the current 3G and 4G infrastructure is clearly inferior to those of Orange, Vodafone, or Telekom, with many customers waiting for improvements. We will certainly see important announcements regarding 5G made by RCS & RDS DIGI, and the other mobile operators, during this year, so it remains to be seen what is in store for us.
