Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), announced yesterday that iPhone sales decreased in 2018 compared to 2017, and found a series of explanations for this, but at the same time announced that it made record sales with the App Store. Between Christmas and New Year, the App Store recorded sales of 1.22 billion dollars globally, a record for those from Apple, but most likely also for Google Play.

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), also announced that on New Year's it recorded a record sales of 322 million dollars, 22 million dollars more than last year, the increase being less than 10%. 1.22 billion dollars spent in one week in the App Store shows how popular Apple's application store is, but the numbers could be higher.

If iPhone sales had been better at the end of 2018, then the receipts would certainly have been much higher, but that did not happen, unfortunately for Apple. Even so, this could be the last year in which the Apple company can boast of records of this kind, and this is because next year the sales could decrease again, so the receipts would follow the same direction.

The App Store had a record-breaking holiday week and New Year's Day. The holiday week was our biggest week ever with more than $1.22 billion spent on apps and games, and New Year's Day set a new single-day record at more than $322 million. Apple announced Wednesday that the App Store helped drive Services revenue to an all-time record in the holiday quarter. Apple services set new all-time records in multiple categories, including the App Store, Apple Music, Cloud Services, Apple Pay and the App Store's search ad business.

Apart from the App Store, the Apple company recorded increases in revenue including for Apple Music, or iCloud, so people are spending more and more money for its services. Despite these increases, they cannot compensate for the decline in iPhone sales, which is the biggest problem for the Apple company at the moment.
