WhatsApp. The messaging platform with the largest number of monthly active users has been owned by Facebook since 2014, but it started to make a substantial change only last year. More precisely, Facebook decided that all communications made through the WhatsApp platform must go through its servers in various locations around the globe, and at the end of 2018 it managed to change almost all of its infrastructure.
WhatsApp. According to one of the most prolific leakers of information regarding news regarding the messaging application, between 80% and 90% of all communications made by users go through Facebook's servers. Practically, at the moment WhatsApp has communications transferred through Facebook servers throughout Europe, the USA, and in various other areas of the globe, including Asia, so that Americans have direct access to messages and multimedia content sent by users.
WhatsApp. MAJOR change made by Facebook
WhatsApp. The passage of the entire infrastructure of the platform through Facebook's servers was something that almost everyone had to expect, because since there was a desire for monetization, it was clear that the result was happening even more than that. Even if not everyone agrees with the fact that all communications made through WhatsApp go through Facebook's servers, at no time has the company stated that it will not do this, so we have to get used to the change.
WhatsApp is using FB Servers in any country now (or about 80/90% of the world).
For this reason, I've switched to FB UI in my Server Status page, showing some locations.https://t.co/l715PjYjEXWe will see if it is useful to stop #whatsappdown today.

WhatsApp. Facebook has said until now that it cannot access communications made through the messaging platform, but from now on it is quite clear that it will be able to analyze everything without any restrictions of any kind. Although WhatsApp should have encrypted data, we all know that this is not real, so from now on you can expect to see ads on Facebook based on conversations made through the messaging platform, but also on sharing data with third-party companies.
