CES 2019 also brings us a new presentation for the first foldable phone, Royole FlexPai, this being produced by a Chinese company and prepared for launch long before that Samsung GALAXY Fold to be brought to the market. The presentation made by them during CES 2019 shows us how strange it is to use this foldable smartphone model, but also how unusual the design is, or how the area where the components are hidden behind the flexible screen looks.

Royole Flexpai has a piece of rubber that hides the area where the screen folds and the cables necessary for the operation of the phone are hidden, they are attached with some screws, the design being unusual. In the same idea, the edges of the screen are very large, too large for a mobile phone, but because we are talking about a first iteration of a foldable phone made by a mostly unknown company, maybe that can be overlooked.

Going over that, the foldable phone brought to CES 2019 had a special version of Android 9 installed by Royole, they themselves modified the operating system to allow the use of the phone. This means that not all interfaces change as they should when folding and opening, that games have to be modified specifically to work on this phone, or that pictures cannot be seen as they should, the dual camera in the phone being very bad anyway.

The Royole Flexpai is a low-cost foldable phone from a manufacturer that hasn't brought any other standout phones to the market so far, so it was to be expected that their first attempt at a premiere wouldn't be totally crowned by success. On the other hand, we now have a first presentation of how a lot of people will use Samsung's phone when it is launched on the market, Huawei, Xiaomi, LG, and other manufacturers having something similar in development.
