Calin Popescu-Tariceanu stated yesterday that GEO 114/2018 will be amended by another emergency ordinance, and that extensive discussions were held with all the companies that are affected by it. According to Calin Popescu-Tariceanu, the new emergency ordinance could change the license prices for the telecom environment for the future 5G networks that will be launched in Romania starting from 2019. According to the president of the Romanian Senate, a reduction of the licenses for 5G will be discussed with ANCOM, and RCS & RDS, together with the rest of the telecom companies, will definitely have good news, because the authority has not yet supported these large tariff increases.
Regarding the telecom field, telecommunications companies raised the following objection, namely that the fees for future 5G licenses would be too high and would be disincentive. We will discuss this with the relevant authority, see if he supports this position or not.

It was very clearly said that asking for 1 billion euros for 5G licenses is far too much, even more than in other European countries, and the operators should increase the prices to support such investments. RCS & RDS first increased the prices for the services they offer, those from Telekom followed, and if changes are not made for GEO 114/2018, then Orange and Vodafone could make similar decisions in the near future.
