RCS & RDS, UPC, Orange, Vodafone, Telekom will block torrent websites and some of those that allow the viewing of films and series for which they do not have a license, and a court decision will impose to stay. In November 2018, eight of the largest film production houses in the US obtained a first decision in court by which RCS & RDS, and the other operators, were obliged to do this, but it did not remain final.
Last week, the reasons for the decision from November 2018 were published, and the operators summoned to court showed that they agree with the blocking of websites with pirated content, but that they need a final court decision. RCS & RDS, UPC, Telekom, DCS, AKTA, Nextgen are the internet service providers that will deny their customers access to many domains, but Orange and Vodafone are also involved.

Dozens of domains are targeted by this decision, through which the current websites that allow the viewing of pirated content, or downloading through torrents, will be removed, the blocking being done at the DNS level. Of course, changing the DNS, or using a VPN, will solve the problem for RCS & RDS clients, and not only that, but not everyone will know how to make changes of this kind, so piracy will, theoretically, be reduced.
The decision is an unprecedented one for Romania, and may be the basis for others after the owners of the current websites with pirated content will modify their domains, or will create other websites, if they have not already done so. The process was opened in September 2017 in Romania, and after almost 2 years it is still not finished, but considering that RCS & RDS, and the rest of the companies, decided to accept the court's decision, it is likely that the blocking will be done soon.
