RCS & RDS. The Romanian telecommunications group today made an extremely important announcement regarding the future 5G network that it is preparing for launch, announcing that it will start testing 5G technology in the country. Well, RCS & RDS have been testing 5G in Romania for some time, but on June 27 they will offer the opportunity for the technology to be publicly tested by the press, in the Old Center of Bucharest, one of the busiest areas in the Capital.
RCS & RDS. The company has been secretly testing 5G for several months, and is using equipment from Ericsson for the demonstration it will do for the public, but it is not known if it will also use Huawei equipment in the country's network. Leaving this aside, RCS & RDS has very serious plans for 5G in Romania, having decided to participate in the autumn auction for the frequencies that will be used in our networks.

RCS & RDS. Mobile operator Digi Mobil is the one that will actually launch 5G services in Romania, most likely in the first part of next year, after the licenses for the use of 5G frequencies will be granted. ANCOM scheduled this for December 2019, so it is unlikely that RCS & RDS will offer anything publicly until then, especially since it is not known which 5G phones might be available in Romania until their infrastructure is ready.
RCS & RDS. At the moment, this is the second telecommunications group in Romania to make an announcement in 2019 for a demonstration of 5G for the press, those from Vodafone doing this in the spring of 2019. Vodafone also promised that its customers will be able to use the network , but for now it does not have 5G phones, and RCS & RDS will be in the same situation until the end of 2019, or even 2020, after we will also have 5G phones in Romania.
RCS & RDS. Having said that, I'm very curious to see what Digi managed to do with 5G technology, and how good the network speeds will be in this public demonstration.
