REFORMA 112 involves a collaboration with Google, here's why

Google is part of the 112 reform proposed by the Romanian authorities, this is why they would like to ask for the help of the American company to fulfill their plans.

Today I presented you the 14 proposals for reforming 112, Raed Arafat presenting them to the Prime Minister of Romania, Viorica Dancila, and she requested that the Parliament be convened in an extraordinary session to implement everything. Among the proposals made by Raed Arafat for reforming the 112 emergency service is a collaboration with Google for the implementation of the localization system through AML technology.

Considering that the AML technology is not created by Google, and phones with the Android operating system already have integrated support, I imagine that in fact they will collaborate for the implementation of Google Maps. It is possible that the AML will be implemented in tandem with localization via Google Maps at 112, and this is because the AML only sends coordinates via SMS, and they must be displayed somewhere on a map, and I imagine that the current ones are not enough of good

Details regarding the role that Google would play in the 112 reform were not provided, but we will most likely soon find out some details about what the Romanian Government would want from the company. Of course, a collaboration with Google to implement more accurate localization for the 112 emergency service is something we can look at not only with good eyes, but also with great hope, because Google Maps has detailed maps in Romania as well.

"Concluding a Collaboration Protocol with Google, testing and later operationalizing the final AML type localization solution in SNUAU."

On the other hand, the implementation of AML and the collaboration with Google is just one of the changes that would be made in order for the emergency service to become much more efficient in saving people's lives. The problem with this announcement lies in the fact that the Romanian Government estimates that the implementation of the AML for 112 could take up to 1 year, so in reality it may take 10, as things are moving in Romania.

Google has not yet been asked if it will collaborate with the Romanian Government for the implementation of this project, but I can't imagine that it will refuse to offer its help.
