WhatsApp amazes even today with a decision that many people have been waiting for for a long time, but which finally comes a few months after everyone thought it would actually be taken. More precisely, those at WhatsApp implemented a few months ago a function that brought biometric security to iPhone phones, i.e. blocking messages with Face ID, and now even those with Android have biometric security offered.
Starting today, WhatsApp allows Android phone users to secure their application using their fingerprint, so that no one will have access to what they discuss with various people, which is very good. Basically, even though the phone is unlocked, the WhatsApp application remains protected with a fingerprint for Android phone users, and this should happen even when it is left open in the background.
WhatsApp: INCREDIBLE, MUCH AWAITED Feature LAUNCHED TODAY
WhatsApp implemented this functionality for Android phones rather late, and of course the security options are similar to those offered for iPhone phones. WhatsApp also allows Android phone users to block the display of message content in notifications, so even if the phone is no longer in their possession, no one will see the messages on the lock screen.
WhatsApp was very harshly criticized for not implementing these security measures much earlier for Android, but here it is in the end choosing to do it. Unfortunately, in Android WhatsApp does not offer the possibility to use both fingerprint reading and facial recognition to secure the application, so users have only one option at hand to be able to protect all their conversations.
WhatsApp has hardly implemented this biometric security system in Android because of the very large number of implementations for reading fingerprints, and facial recognition is not even remotely secure.
