Coronavirus has infected 48 people in Romania, the last case being confirmed this morning, a woman who is an indirect contact of the man from the Gerota hospital who has infected several people so far, and generated the quarantine of the hospital.

So far there are 6 people cured of the Coronavirus in Romania, while 1450 people are in institutionalized quarantine, the vast majority being people who came from Italy in the last days, 12878 being in isolation at home, they came from Italy until this week, and from other countries.

The number of calls made to the TelVerde number for the Coronavirus increased to 6118, extremely much compared to the previous days and last week, while the number of calls to 112 reached 813, a sign that people want to be better informed about the situation with this virus.

"Until today, March 12, 48 cases of citizens infected with the COVID-19 virus (coronavirus) have been confirmed on the territory of Romania.
Of the 48 citizens who contacted the virus, 6 were declared cured and discharged.
On the territory of Romania, there are 1.450 people in institutionalized quarantine for whom checks are carried out to detect whether they have contacted the COVID-19 (coronavirus) virus. Another 12.878 people are in isolation at home and under medical monitoring.
During yesterday, March 11, 813 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 6.118 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened especially for informing citizens.
We remind citizens to consider only information verified through official sources and to call for recommendations and other information on the TELVERDE line – 0800.800.358. The TELVERDE number is not an emergency number, it is a telephone line dedicated strictly to informing citizens. Also, Romanians abroad can request information about preventing and combating the virus at the line specially dedicated to them +4021.320.20.20.
At the same time, we reiterate the fact that the information circulated through social networks, according to which the municipality of Bucharest would close or go into quarantine, is false. There is no discussion about the "closure/quarantine" of the Capital or any city in Romania.
We also ask citizens to show responsibility and not spread on social networks, or other channels, information that does not come from official sources.
Until now, 21 criminal cases have been registered under the aspect of committing the crime of thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 para. 1 of the Criminal Code and two criminal files registered under the aspect of committing the crime of communicating false information, an act provided for and punished by art. 404 Criminal Code.

Regarding the activity at the border points on the border with the Republic of Serbia, we inform you that, starting today, March 12, at 08.00, the activity of the following border crossing points on the common border has been temporarily suspended:

– PTF Vrbica – Valcani - specific road;
– PTF Nakovo – Lunga- road specific;
– PTF Jasa Tomic – Foeni – road specific;
– PTF Kaludjerovo – Naidas – specific road;
– PTF Golubac – New Moldova – road/naval specific;
– PTF Kladovo – Drobeta Turnu Severin – naval specific;
– PTF Kusjak – Iron Gates II – road.

The measure was instituted by the authorities of the Republic of Serbia in order to protect the health of the citizens of the two states, in the context of the expansion of the infection with COVID-19.
We specify that the border traffic between the two countries will continue under normal conditions through PTF Stamora Moravița (Timiș county), PTF Jimbolia (Timiș county) and PTF Portile de Fier I (Mehedinți county).

Next, we present the situation regarding the infection with the COVID-19 (coronavirus) virus at European and global level.
As of March 11, 2020, 17.430 cases have been reported in the EU/EEA, United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra. The most cases were recorded in Italy, France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom."
