Windows 10: LAST MINUTE Decision Taken Due to COVID-19

Windows 10 is part of a last-minute decision announced by the Microsoft company due to COVID-19, here is what it was forced to do now.

Windows 10 COVID-19

Windows 10 is at the center of a last-minute decision taken by the Microsoft company due to COVID-19, adding to other important decisions that Microsoft, and other IT companies, have been taking in recent weeks. Because of the way Microsoft works now, and because of the employees who no longer work from the headquarters, but from home, Windows 10 will no longer have optional updates available for users, all the focus being left on security ones.

Windows 10 it will have the security updates released according to the usual schedule until now, but the optional ones, type C and D, will not come until the time when the activity of the Microsoft company returns to normal. This change applies both to Windows 10 versions dedicated to regular customers and to server ones, so there will no longer be optional updates of any kind for those who were expecting this type of news from Microsoft.

Windows 10: LAST MINUTE Decision Taken Due to COVID-19

Windows 10 in the last months it had a varied range of problems for all those who use the operating system, and some of the optional updates have adjusted the situation in which the company found itself, but now even they disappear. Usually, through these updates for Windows 10, updates for drivers were offered, or other changes that are not as important as security patches, they being installed after the main ones from Microsoft.

"We assessed the public health situation and understood that this affects our customers. In response to these challenges, we prioritize our attention on security updates. Starting in May 2020, we are discontinuing all optional non-security releases (updates C and D) for all supported versions of Windows client and server products (Windows 10, version 1909 through Windows Server 2008 SP2). There is no change to the monthly security updates (version B – Update Tuesday); they will continue as planned to ensure business continuity and keep customers protected and productive.”

Windows 10 will have these updates stopped starting from May of this year, and it is not known when the decision could be made to start offering them again, and this is because no one knows how long the situation with COVID-19 will last globally. Of course, if things improve by the summer, then Microsoft will return to better thoughts, so if the infections with COVID-19 in the US will not increase, and things will return to normal, then Windows 10 will again have these updates.

Windows 10 currently has another serious problem, with a very serious vulnerability that is being exploited by hackers, so there are other serious situations to solve for those from Microsoft.
