The coronavirus continues to gain ground in Romania, the authorities officially announcing that on March 31, 2020, 2245 cases of infection with the new virus were registered, the increase being higher than yesterday, but this was foreshadowed last night, when the new figures were revealed .

The number of cures also increased (220), which was to be expected, but unfortunately the same is also true for the number of deaths, or of people who are in intensive care, and things will continue on the same upward trend in the following days.

In institutionalized quarantine there are 11.576 people taken by the authorities, while there are 123.577 people in home isolation, the numbers constantly increasing due to the large number of Romanians who continue to enter the country during this period.

In the last 24 hours, those from the MAI applied more than 8200 fines to those who did not respect the military ordinances regarding travel restrictions, their total value being more than 13 million LEI, and the total from the day the prohibitions were imposed until now reached 75 million LEI.

"Until today, March 31, on the territory of Romania, 2.245 cases of people infected with the COVID-19 virus (coronavirus) have been confirmed. Among the people confirmed positive, 220 were declared cured and discharged (81 in Bucharest, 55 in Timiș, 20 in Iași, 16 in Caraș-Severin, 11 in Constanța, 10 in Prahova, 7 in Dolj, 5 in Brașov, 4 in Cluj , 4 in Galati, 2 in Bihor, 1 in Brăila, 1 in Mureș, 1 in Neamț, 1 in Alba, 1 in Argeș).

At the same time, so far, 69 people diagnosed with infection with COVID-19, hospitalized in hospitals in Craiova, Bucharest, Iasi, Suceava, Arad, Bacău, Timișoara, Cluj, Neamț, Hunedoara, Constanța, Satu Mare, Sibiu and Ialomița, have deceased.

Since the last information sent by the Strategic Communication Group, another 293 new cases of illness have been registered.

At the moment, 62 patients are admitted to the ATI, of which 36 are in serious condition. The health status of the other patients is stable for now.

On the territory of Romania, there are 11.576 people in institutionalized quarantine. Another 123.577 people are in isolation at home and are under medical monitoring.

Up to this date, at the national level, 24.654 tests have been processed.

In the last 24 hours, 1.151 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 6.393 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened specifically for informing citizens.

Also, in the last 24 hours, 15 criminal files were drawn up by the authorized structures of the MAI, under the aspect of committing the crime of thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 para. 1 Criminal Code. The Border Police has drawn up a criminal file, under the aspect of committing the crime of forgery in declarations, an act provided for and punished by art. 326 Criminal Code.

At the same time, the Police and the Gendarmerie applied, in the same period of time, 990 contraventional sanctions for non-compliance with isolation/quarantine measures.

The police detected, in the last 24 hours, 8.276 people who did not respect the measure regarding the restriction of movement. Contraventional sanctions were applied to them, in the amount of 13.174.104 lei.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other countries, according to the information obtained by diplomatic missions and consular offices of Romania abroad, up to now, 94 Romanian citizens have been confirmed to be infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 56 in Italy, 14 in France, 7 in Germany, 6 in Spain, 2 in Namibia, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in the UK and one each in Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Belgium and the USA. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and up to this moment, 19 Romanian citizens abroad, 9 in Italy, 6 in France, 2 in Great Britain, one in Germany and one in Spain, have died.

Also, Romanians abroad can request information about preventing and combating the virus at the line specially dedicated to them, +4021.320.20.20.

Starting on March 30, people who leave the place where they were quarantined, without the approval of the competent authorities, will be forced to resume the 14-day quarantine cycle, bearing the expenses incurred with their quarantine, and will be criminally liable according to the law. At the same time, people who do not respect the conditions of isolation and are identified outside the isolation space will be forced to enter quarantine for 14 days, bearing the expenses incurred with their quarantine, and will be penalized for contravention, if the act does not constitute a crime.

According to Military Ordinance no. 6 of 30.03.2020, during the state of emergency, the quarantine measure is established in the municipality of Suceava and in the bordering area formed by the following eight municipalities: Adâncata, Salcea, Ipotești, Bosanci, Moara, Șcheia, Pătrăuți and Mitocu Dragomirnei.

During this period, the entry and exit for the transport of goods, regardless of its nature, of the raw materials and resources necessary for carrying out economic activities in the quarantine area, as well as the supply of the population, is allowed in the quarantined area. Likewise, the entry and exit of persons who do not live in the quarantined area but who carry out economic activities or in the field of defense, public order, national security, health, emergency situations, local public administration, social assistance and protection, judicial, public utility services, energy, agriculture, public food, water supply, communications and transport.

Since the entry into force of Military Ordinance no. 2 and up to now, 1.124 people who did not respect the self-isolation period have been placed in institutionalized quarantine. Also, 32 people in quarantine left the location where they were placed, for which the measure of quarantine was ordered for a new period of 14 days."
