Facebook has launched Messenger Rooms, a new function that allows making video calls in groups of people, it being offered as a new alternative to Zoom and FaceTime, and below you can see how you will be able to use the functionality.

Facebook will allow the creation of virtual rooms in which users will be able to call their friends, or any other people, to make group video calls, special links to access those rooms being also available for sharing.

Facebook only allows making video calls in groups of up to 8 people, much less than Zoom or FaceTime, but the company says that the limit will be increased to 50 people in a few weeks, but for now no clear data is known.

Facebook will soon allow Instagram, WhatsApp, Portal users to enter these Messenger Rooms, everything will be possible through a web browser, even without having an account created in the company's social network.

"Launching today on mobile and desktop, you can start a video camera chat that friends can discover through a new section above the News Feed or notifications that Facebook will automatically send to your closest friends. You can also invite only certain friends or share a link that anyone can use to join your room.”

Facebook will notify users about the availability of this function through a notification that will be displayed for people when they open the application for the first time on phones and tablets in the next period.
