Coronavirus: Deutsche Telekom and SAP, 20 million Euro application in Germany

Deutsche Telekom SAP coronavirus, application 20 million Euros Germany

Deutsche Telekom and SAP made an application of 20 million euros, yes you read that right, an application that costs an incredible amount, and this in the conditions that another 2.5 - 3.5 million euros are needed monthly for its operation.

The application is the one that will help you monitor the spread of the Coronavirus in Germany, it includes iOS and Android APIs to detect interactions between users and notify people if any are confirmed to be infected.

However, the cost of 20 million euros for such an application is unrealistically high, if it does not cover several years of operation, or extremely many servers to support the application, and this is because the development itself does not cost that much.

Applications of this kind are needed in all countries where the Coronavirus has already infected many people, including in Romania, but for now there are no plans to do something like this.

"Germany launched a coronavirus tracking app on Tuesday. Experts say finding new cases quickly is critical to reducing new outbreaks, especially as countries slowly emerge from lockdowns and try to avoid a second wave of infections and deaths. The German government says its app cost 20 million euros ($22,7 million) to develop and will need 2,5 million to 3,5 million euros per month to operate.”
