UPDATE: President Klaus Iohannis made several statements regarding the Coronavirus pandemic.

The authorities in Romania continue to announce increases in the number of infections with the new Coronavirus in Romania, 555 today, and this was to be expected, considering that the rules were not respected by many people, the authorities' expectations being that the situation will continue in this rhythm.

The number of people declared cured is constant, below that of infected people, the number of deaths increases a lot, reaching the level of the state of emergency, the number of people in intensive care is also very high, unfortunately.

"

In the context of the sustained increase in the number of new cases of infection with the new coronavirus (COVID-19), the Strategic Communication Group draws attention to the need to strictly observe health protection measures: wearing a mask, keeping distance, avoiding direct contact with other people, frequent hand hygiene.

The rate of compliance with health protection measures is the central element in the effective management of the health crisis and in limiting the spread of the virus.

We encourage awareness of the danger caused by infection with the new coronavirus, respectfully urging third parties to comply with protective measures, as well as reporting to the authorities cases in which they are violated.

We disavow acts of politicization of the health crisis, either denying the danger of infection or minimizing the risks generated by COVID-19, or repeatedly challenging the measures taken by the authorities to manage the crisis, based on the assessment of public health experts, as such acts determine behaviors and attitudes contrary to the sanitary and social imperative of this moment.
