The cases of Coronavirus in Romania continue to remain at a very high level, with over 1200 announced yesterday, after on Monday we had the first drop below 1000 new cases, that's right, and with less than half of the usual number of processing tests .

The number of deaths registered yesterday was a record since the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic and until now, as well as the number of people hospitalized in intensive care, the authorities trying to rapidly expand the number of beds available in the country.

Unfortunately, the Coronavirus pandemic continues to affect Romania more and more because people do not respect the rules of social distancing, and this leads to an increase in the number of infections every day, and the situation will not change soon.

"Until today, August 5, on the territory of Romania, 56.550 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.

28.584 patients were declared cured and 5.370 asymptomatic patients were discharged 10 days after detection.

Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 1.309 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test. The distribution of total cases and new cases by county can be found in the table below.

To date, 2.521 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died.

In the interval 04.08.2020 (10:00) - 05.08.2020 (10:00) 41 deaths (28 men and 13 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in hospitals in Arad, Argeș, Bacău were recorded .

Of these, 2 deaths were registered in the age category 40-49 years, 1 death in the age category 50-59 years, 11 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 17 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 10 deaths in the over 80 category.

40 of the registered deaths are of patients who had comorbidities, and for one death no comorbidities were reported.

In specialized health facilities, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 7.919. Of these, 464 patients are admitted to ATI.

Until this date, at the national level, 1.295.222 tests have been processed. Of these, 24.108 were performed in the last 24 hours, 15.956 based on the case definition and the medical protocol, and 8.152 on request. Also, since the last information provided by GCS, the results of 2.215 tests processed prior to the last 24 hours and transmitted until August 5 have been reported.

On the territory of Romania, 5.568 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 4.736 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 18.710 people are in home quarantine, and 174 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 962 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 777 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened specifically for informing citizens.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55 of 15.05.2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 834 contraventional sanctions, in the amount of 167.970 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, yesterday, 2 crimes were detected for thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 Criminal Code.
