CERT-RO, Carrefour: WARNING for all Customers from Romania

CERT-RO Carrefour warning Romanians of fraud

CERT-RO, the government agency, issued a very important warning for Carrefour customers in Romania, and we are talking about a very serious problem that is based on a series of cyber attacks targeting Romanians who buy from the hypermarket chain.

CERT-RO tells Romanians that all those contests that say they give them a Samsung GALAXY S20 phone from Carrefour as a prize are just scams designed to steal their data, and that they should not take them seriously, nor share them with friends .

"Dear CARREFOUR customers, pay attention to the fake promotional offers circulating these days on the internet!

Carrefour does NOT offer a Galaxy S20 smartphone as a prize, as a result of participating in a survey. So DO NOT follow this deceptive campaign and DO NOT forward the information to other users!

The messages that some of you are receiving via SMS or Facebook Messenger do NOT belong to them. Check for campaigns or promotional offers ONLY on the company's official communication channels!

Carrefour's name and logo are being misused in a #scam campaign where attackers try to trick potential victims into providing personal or card details.

If you have fallen victim to this fraud attempt, contact CERT-RO at no. emergency number 1911 or by e-mail (alerts@cert.ro) and the Romanian Police. At the same time, if you have provided card details, contact the bank immediately and inform them of this. Note that this data is then in the possession of attackers, who can make payments from your account.”
