The Coronavirus pandemic continues to bring new very high daily numbers, infections still remaining at a value of more than 1000 daily confirmations, and unfortunately we only have an apparent halt in growth, but we still do not see any decrease in the number of cases.
The same is true in terms of deaths, this week being without records for the time being from this point of view, even if we are getting closer to 500 hospitalized people in the intensive care unit, that is half of the current capacity.
The authorities hope that by September the number of daily infections will decrease substantially, but everything also depends on compliance with the protective measures, which unfortunately does not happen at the moment, as you already know very well.
1415 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours by the authorities in Romania, a new record that shows us that the situation continues to worsen, and it is possible to exceed 1500 new daily cases in the next period.
"Until today, August 12, on the territory of Romania, 65.177 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.
31.048 patients were declared cured and 7.026 asymptomatic patients were discharged 10 days after detection.
Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 1.415 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test. To date, 2807 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died.
Between 11.08.2020 (10:00) and 12.08.2020 (10:00) 43 deaths (25 men and 18 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, admitted to hospitals in Arad, Bacău, Bihor, were recorded , Brașov, Buzău, Caraș – Severin, Covasna, Dâmbovița, Giurgiu, Gorj, Hunedoara, Ialomița, Iasi, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Neamț, Prahova, Timiș, Vâlcea and Vrancea.
Of these, 1 death was registered in the age category 20-29 years, 1 death in the age category 40-49 years, 4 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 15 deaths in the age category 60-69 years , 16 deaths in the 70-79 age category and 6 deaths in the over 80 age category.
42 of the recorded deaths are of patients who had comorbidities, and for one deceased patient no comorbidities have been reported so far.
In specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 7.381. Of these, 485 are hospitalized at ATI.
Until this date, at the national level, 1.427.626 tests have been processed. Of these, 22.607 were performed in the last 24 hours, 14.098 based on the case definition and medical protocol, and 8.509 on request. Also, since the last information provided by the GCS, the results of 174 tests processed prior to the last 24 hours and transmitted until August 12 have been reported.
On the territory of Romania, 15.494 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 10.970 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 39.900 people are in home quarantine, and 214 people are in institutionalized quarantine.
In the last 24 hours, 977 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 788 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened specifically for informing citizens.
As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55 of 15.05.2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 1397 contraventional sanctions, in the amount of 262.900 lei."
