The Romanian government has issued, through CERT-RO, the agency for cyber security under which it is subordinate, a new alert regarding a major cyber security issue regarding which all Romanians should be very careful at the moment.

The Romanian government explains below everything that anyone should know at the moment in relation to the vulnerabilities that bring serious cyber security problems for Romanians, and it would be good to look very carefully at what the authorities recommend.

"Manage your #RemoteDesktop connections carefully and don't neglect the security of your personal or company data! Cybercriminals are stepping up attacks on RDP connections, further taking advantage of restrictions caused by the #COVID19 pandemic.

The recommendations of the CERT-RO team for network administrators and users:

Timely software update.
Change default listening port (3389).
Using strong passwords.
Restricting access through #firewall.
Enabling NLA (Network Level Authentication).
Limiting the number of users who can connect via #RDP
Setting a clear account lockout policy (in case of multiple login failures).
When you are not sure about the security of your network, protect yourself by using an encrypted connection. (#VPN)”
