Nelu Tataru expects that a large number of daily cases will continue to be registered in Romania in the coming weeks, i.e. over 2000 daily, and no, this does not mean that we will re-enter the state of emergency, but some restrictions will be re-imposed in certain localities in which the number of cases is very high.
Nelu Tataru says that probably after the middle of October the number of cases will drop below 2000, maybe it will reach 1500 again, in any case enormous for Romania, but it is improbable that it will ever drop consistently below 1000 cases per day until the end of this year, and it is possible that the situation will become even more difficult.
"We are in the second phase of wave one, in a period of growth. We hope to keep the growth at 2.000, with a decrease towards 1.500 in the next period, but for this we have to follow some rules. We should also have respect for the medical staff, who make a huge effort for 7 months.
Intensive Care - we have over 550 cases, but at the moment we only have 176 intubated patients, who require invasive ventilated breathing. The others are in various degrees of respiratory insufficiency, passing somewhat on an intermediate therapy, likewise, the attending physician deciding whether he remains on the beds that benefit from that mechanical ventilator or they are switched to intermediate therapy with an additional source of oxygen."
