WhatsApp became the largest messaging platform in the world after it managed to implement for its users a variety of extremely good features that many of them loved right from the moment they started using them. WhatsApp grew a lot after it was bought by Facebook, and it started to be massively promoted by the company, being pre-installed in many phone models, which substantially increased the usage rate.

WhatsApp it is one of the very few messaging applications that is not excessively monetized by its creators, but that will change in the coming years, as new monetization methods are thought of by companies.
