Facebook supports flu vaccination in Romania

Facebook flu vaccination Romania

Facebook surprises everyone with the decision to launch an information campaign to help Romanians understand why flu vaccination is good, and below you will find out why.

"Bucharest, October 30, 2020 - The pandemic caused by COVID-19 has shown the important role that prevention plays in protecting health. According to public health experts, it will be some time before a vaccine against COVID-19 is approved and widely available. However, there are steps people can take even now to take care of their health and stay safe, such as getting the seasonal flu shot. With this in mind, Facebook is showing its commitment and announcing steps taken to support the vaccination effort.

First, a flu vaccine information campaign will run on the social media platform starting Saturday, October 31. Citizens of Romania, as well as other European countries, will be able to see ads on Facebook that will direct them to general information about the flu vaccine and how they can get it, including the nearest location where they can purchase the vaccine. Facebook will also feature flu vaccine reminders and information from health authorities in both the News Feed and the COVID-19 Information Center.

Additionally, Facebook has introduced a new policy globally that bans ads that discourage people from getting vaccinated. This is an extension of a policy initiated by Facebook, which did not allow ads containing false data about the vaccine, which were identified by global health organizations. For example, Facebook will now be able to delete any ad that contains information that discourages the use of the vaccine.

Last but not least, Facebook is working with global health organizations, including WHO and UNICEF, to develop campaigns to help increase immunization rates.”
