Xiaomi has surpassed Huawei in phone sales in Central and Eastern Europe, according to experts from Canalys, but this should not be a surprise since the domestic sanctions have caused so many problems for the Chinese company.

"Bucharest, Romania, November 6, 2020 - Xiaomi maintained its position as the second largest smartphone brand in Central and Eastern Europe in the third quarter of 2020, with an annual growth of 80% and a share of 27% market, according to Canalys. In Europe, the company grew by 91%, reached a market share of 19% and remained in third place in the ranking of smartphone manufacturers during the same period.

"Central and Eastern Europe is a key development region for Xiaomi. In the last quarter we introduced many new products to meet the growing demand in the region," said Andrew Wong, General Manager of Xiaomi for Central and Eastern Europe. "Thanks to our efforts to strengthen the online and offline sales system and counting on the support of our partners, we had a significant increase in the company's performance on all levels. We have not for a second given up on our principle of making innovation accessible to all," he added.

In Central and Eastern Europe, Xiaomi moved up one position to become the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the second quarter of 2020. The same report states that Xiaomi continued to be the number one brand in Poland for the second quarter in a row, with a market share of 29% in Q3 of 2020. In Ukraine, Xiaomi is in first place for the eighth quarter in a row, with a market share of 40% in the third quarter of this year.”
