The Coronavirus pandemic continues to be strong in Romania even if the number of daily tests remains at a low volume, and the number of confirmed cases is small, but in reality things are not quite as good as they seem at first glance.
The number of people hospitalized in intensive care continues to remain at a record level, the situation being very serious in our country, the number of deaths due to the Coronavirus being also high, and all because of the high number of infections so far.
Today, the extension of the state of alert that the Government of Romania adopted last week entered into force, maintaining the measures up to now to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, and it only brings a change for those who go to the mountain resorts.
"Until today, December 14, on the territory of Romania, 559.587 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.
460.780 patients were declared cured.
Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 3.252 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test. The distribution of total cases and new cases by county can be found in the table below.

*Regarding the "new cases not allocated by county", we specify that their number is determined by the changes made to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized. Thus, according to the new methodology, the test centers directly enter the results of the tests carried out, following which the epidemiological investigation is carried out at the level of the Public Health Directorates and the positive cases are assigned to the county/locality to which the infected persons belong.

The coefficient of cumulative infections per 14 days, reported per 1.000 inhabitants, is calculated by the Directorates of Public Health, at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest and the counties. Distinct from the newly confirmed cases, following retesting of patients who were already positive, 387 people were reconfirmed positive. The distribution of these cases by county can be found in the table below.

Until today, 13.494 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.
Between 13.12.2020 (10:00) and 14.12.2020 (10:00) 109 deaths (60 men and 49 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in hospitals in Alba, Arad, Argeș, Bihor, Botoșani, Calarasi, Caraș-Severin, Cluj, Constanța, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galati, Giurgiu, Gorj, Hunedoara, Iasi, Maramureș, Neamț, Olt, Prahova, Sălaj, Sibiu, Teleorman, Timiș, Tulcea, Vâlcea, Ilfov and Bucharest municipality.
Of these, 2 deaths were registered in the age category 30-39 years, 6 deaths in the age category 40-49 years, 13 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 28 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 37 deaths in the 70-79 age category and 23 deaths in the over 80 age category.
104 of the recorded deaths are of patients who presented comorbidities, and for 5 deceased patients no comorbidities were recorded.
In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 12.379. Of these, 1.289 are hospitalized at ATI.
Until this date, at the national level, 4.436.130 tests have been processed. Of these, 8.059 were performed in the last 24 hours, 6.250 based on case definition and medical protocol, and 1.809 on request.
On the territory of Romania, 42.741 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 12.222 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 65.168 people are in home quarantine, and 137 people are in institutionalized quarantine.
In the last 24 hours, 2.684 calls were made to the single emergency number 112.
As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on December 13 this year, 6.775 contraventional sanctions, in the amount of 1.556.758 lei.
Also, through the competent structures of the Police, yesterday, 5 crimes were detected for thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 Criminal Code.
We remind citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs operationalized, starting on 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of health protection rules can be reported.
The calls are taken by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for verification of the reported aspects.
Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other countries, 6.951 Romanian citizens have been confirmed to be infected with SARS-CoV-2 (coronavirus): 1.936 in Italy, 1.253 in Spain, 125 in France, 3.085 in Germany, 167 in Great Britain, 36 in Hungary, 28 in Holland, 2 in Namibia, 4 in USA, 4 in Sweden, 123 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 8 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland , 2 in Belarus, 93 in Greece, 10 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 8 in the United Arab Emirates, 12 in the Republic of Moldova, 2 in Montenegro and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil , Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Republic of Congo, Qatar, Vatican City, Portugal, Egypt and Russian Federation. From the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and up to this moment, 127 Romanian citizens abroad, 32 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the US, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of Congo and one in Greece, have died."
