Motorola: Romanians are very interested in buying 5G phones

Motorola 5G interest

Motorola announced the results of a very interesting study carried out in Romania, stating that the citizens of our country are very interested in buying phones with 5G connectivity.

"Motorola, the company that aims to democratize access to 5G technology and is present on the Romanian market through an extensive range of phones equipped with 5G connectivity, presents the results of a study carried out together with the research company Cult Market Research. The study exposes how Romanians relate to the 5G functionalities of mobile phones and shows that 48% of respondents intend to purchase a new phone in the next year in order to have access to 5G. Purchase intention is higher among 30-41 year olds and males. In addition, for 85% of them, higher Internet speed is the main criterion in the desire to purchase a 5G-equipped smartphone.

"The data from the survey proved the assumptions we started from, showing that one in four people would be willing to pay between 1000 and 2000 lei for a 5G phone. This confirmed to us that it is important to continue democratizing access to phones ready for the speed of 5G networks, while paying special attention to informing consumers. That's why we want to show them, in detail, how 5G changes the experience of using the phone, so that they can make an informed decision. At the same time, we want to bring to their attention Motorola's portfolio of 5G phones, which reveals from the most affordable device on the market to smartphones in the premium category", said Răzvan Sturza, Mobile Business Group Lead.

The study conducted by Cult Market Research at the request of Motorola reveals a number of expectations from 5G technology:
33% of respondents would switch to the 5G network as soon as it was available, while 24% would switch only if they had no other alternative
43% of them would make this change if they had more information or if more acquaintances used 5G connectivity
Respondents believe that the adoption of 5G technology will mainly lead to faster internet browsing (65%), better video call quality (55%) and easier telecommuting (34%)
The most important features for purchasing the future smartphone compared to the current smartphone are: better internet coverage (77% of respondents) and faster internet speed (74%). Although the two criteria are considered important benefits of 5G technology, the specific criterion represented by 5G capability is considered important by 54% of respondents.

The study was conducted in November, on a sample of 500 people, representative of the population aged between 18 and 50 in Romania, who own a smartphone connected to the Internet. The maximum tolerable margin of sample error is ±4,38% at the 95% confidence level.

In November, Motorola launched moto g 5G, the most affordable 5G-equipped mobile phone on the Romanian market, through an exclusive Digi offer. With the launch of moto g 5G, Motorola reconfirmed its mission to make 5G technology accessible to all types of consumers and strengthened the range of devices ready for the 5G experience, which included the moto g 5G plus phones, the edge series of phones and razr 5G.

The incredible power of the new 5G generation allows downloading movies in seconds, streaming online gaming without lag, and gives the impression of a real conversation during video calls. Compared to 4G, 5G offers higher bandwidth, lower latency and reduced delay time, so nothing is lost.

Motorola has a long-standing collaboration with Qualcomm, premiering in the US in 2019 the first 5G compatible device on the market. Since then, Motorola has focused on facilitating access to 5G technology by investing in the development of high-speed mobile terminals."
