DIGI Mobile: Official, what Recognizes for Millions of Romanians

DIGI Mobile inferiority

DIGI Mobil is one of the largest telecommunications operators in all of Romania, with almost 4 million active customers throughout the country, and recently it officially recognized something very important. After many months in which DIGI Mobil did not provide details regarding internet browsing speeds through its 5G network, now the operator specifies very clearly on the subscriptions page that its infrastructure is limited to 600 Mbps download and 40 Mbps upload.

DIGI Mobil officially offers this information right where customers should see it from the very beginning, although when it launched the network it did not offer it directly there. DIGI Mobil made this change after in 2019 and almost all of last year it did not offer information about the internet speeds of the 5G network, even though its network was limited to 600 Mbps even during the test, and in the coverage information page says nothing about 5G speeds.

DIGI Mobile inferior 5g internet speeds

DIGI Mobil changed the interface of its website in February, and these changes were probably made then, but now it is officially visible on its website that its network is inferior to that of Orange and Vodafone. Orange offers speeds of up to 1.2 Gbps in its 5G network, Vodafone up to 1 Gbps, but DIGI Mobil has significantly lower speeds, half compared to both competing operators, and most likely compared to Telekom.

DIGI Mobil uses equipment from Huawei, Ericsson, and most likely other manufacturers, but even so, it still lags behind the telecom giants when it comes to mobile internet speeds. If we make a comparison with the current speeds, the 5G ones are "light years" away, DIGI Mobil finally being able to offer its customers a good internet browsing experience, but compared to the competition it is still very far behind even with this infrastructure .

DIGI Mobil could be forced to change Huawei equipment if the decision is made in Romania to exclude those already used from 5G networks, but it is unlikely that this will have a positive impact on mobile internet speeds.
