COVID-19: The Third Dose of Vaccine could be Made in September in Romania

The third dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 could be given from September in Romania as well, the authorities waiting for a decision at the European level in this regard so that this procedure can be done including for Romanians who are interested in it.

The third dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 would be given to people who are vulnerable, but also to those in the medical system, the decision regarding its administration based on the Delta variant of the Coronavirus that generates new infections in large numbers all over the world.

"Also, there are discussions at the moment, related to the administration of the booster or what is known as the third dose, although correctly we are talking about the booster and not the third dose, in people who either have an increased risk of exposure – and here we are talking about, for example, the category of medical staff and social staff, and people who are on record with chronic diseases, respectively people over 65 years old.

It is very likely that from September we will have this decision to administer the third dose or the booster. Practically, it would come 8 months after the start of the vaccination campaign. First of all, for medical personnel who, I repeat, are at increased risk of exposure to this infection and continuing with vulnerable patients, those over 65 and those with chronic diseases.

It is very likely to consider the history of passing through the disease. Practically, a person who has a history of passing through the disease and has been vaccinated with two doses does not necessarily have an indication to do the booster with the third dose of the vaccine, considering that passing through the disease is an important element of activating the the immune response."
