Android: ALERT Message Targeting MILLIONS of Phones

Android selection

Android is again at the center of an extremely important alert message that targets millions of people around the world, and this is because a new very serious problem has been discovered. According to some IT security experts, it seems that hundreds of applications with malicious content have been discovered in the Google Play Store, and they have been installed more than 10 million times so far on phones all over the world.

Android is now being targeted by a new type of malware called GriftHorse, which uses a number of new techniques to circumvent the security systems that have been put in place to protect Google Play users. No less than 200 applications with this new type of malware have been launched in Google Play until now, and their success among the millions of people with phones took even the researchers by surprise, unfortunately.

Android: ALERT Message Targeting MILLIONS of Phones

Android has various security measures implemented by Google to provide protection for users, but this new malware combines several data theft techniques and more. Unfortunately, among the methods by which Android phones are exploited, there are also those by which people are subscribed to expensive subscriptions from applications and have the SMS confirmation of subscriptions hidden by malware so that they do not know what is happening.

“This is an impressive delivery in terms of scale. They pushed the whole gauntlet of techniques in all categories; these methods are refined and proven. And it really is a carpet bombing effect when it comes to the amount of apps. One might be successful, another might not, and that's fine.”

Android is used in almost all the nearly 200 countries around the world, and this malware was thought to check the IP address of the one who installed the infected application in his own phone. Only after the IP address was one of a region where there are customers with money, the malware was triggered automatically, so that not everyone who installed an application among those discovered with malware necessarily had the stolen data and money take

Android can no longer be exploited by applications of this kind that are available in the Google Play Store, and this is because Google has eliminated all those detected with problems.
