Evolution of New Cases of Coronavirus in Romania in the Last 24 Hours - February 22, 2022

The evolution of new cases of Coronavirus in Romania in the last 24 hours, for the day of February 22, 2022, shows us once again how serious the infection situation is in the whole country, and this still keeps the lifting of restrictions in the whole country far away.

COVID-19 situation in the last 24 hours:

  • The positivity rate is 19,58%;
  • 14.775 new infections with SARS CoV 2;
  • 215 deceased persons, of which 8 before the reference interval.

The number of unvaccinated people (who do not have a certificate certifying vaccination) is:

  • over 5 times higher among deceased persons;
  • more than 6 times higher among those hospitalized in ATI;

compared to vaccinated people.

At the moment:

  • 8.915 people are hospitalized in the wards, of which 532 are children;
  • 1.063 people are hospitalized in ATI, of which 9 are children;
  • Of the 1.063 people hospitalized in ATI, 929 (87,4%) are unvaccinated people (who do not have a certificate attesting to vaccination).

Important!

People who have symptoms that may indicate the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus (fever, cough, fatigue, headache, loss of taste and smell, etc.) are asked to call their family doctor, DSP call centers or the single emergency number 112 to request testing.

People who test positive can go to the COVID-19 assessment centers to receive the necessary consultation and treatment.

Attention: if you have severe forms and the symptoms manifest aggressively, call the single emergency number 112.

Vaccination remains the best solution for protection against COVID-19!

By vaccination against COVID-19:

  • the risk of infection is reduced;
  • the risk of virus transmission is reduced;
  • the risk of hospitalization is considerably reduced;
  • the risk of death is considerably reduced.

Of the total of 148 deceased patients, 128 were unvaccinated and 20 vaccinated. Vaccinated patients were between the age groups of 40-49 years and over 80 years. 18 of the vaccinated patients who died had comorbidities, and no comorbidities were reported for 2 patients.

In the last 24 hours, 19.394 RT-PCR tests (10.439 based on case definition and medical protocol and 8.955 on request) and 39.393 rapid antigen tests were performed."
