Sweden Finland completed the NATO accession treaties

Sweden and Finland have finalized the accession treaties to NATO, they have agreed to all the provisions that must be fulfilled in order to join the alliance, so now those treaties must be ratified by the dozens of states that are part of the alliance, and which he must give his consent for their acceptance.

NATO has shown its willingness to welcome Finland and Sweden into the alliance, with the exception of Turkey, which imposed a series of conditions that must be met in order for the accession process to be completed, but including this step should be carried out during the following weeks by all 3 countries.

"Finland and Sweden concluded accession talks at NATO headquarters in Brussels on Monday (July 4, 2022), as agreed last week by NATO leaders at their summit in Madrid. Both countries have officially confirmed their willingness and ability to fulfill their political, legal and military obligations and commitments of NATO membership.

The talks were held between NATO officials and representatives from Finland and Sweden. The Finnish delegation was led by Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto and Defense Minister Antti Kaikkonen, the Swedish delegation was led by Foreign Minister Ann Linde. The country-by-country meetings were chaired by NATO Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, Bettina Cadenbach.

Following the conclusion of the talks, the Allies are to sign the Accession Protocols for Finland and Sweden on Tuesday (July 5, 2022) at NATO headquarters. The Accession Protocols will then go to all NATO countries for ratification, according to their national procedures."
