We are talking about a display of the most recent messages from conversations in all devices connected to the same account, even if the main terminal on which the account is logged in does not have an Internet connection.
Although WhatsApp needed several years to implement a system for users to facilitate the interconnection of several devices to the same account without an internet connection available on the main one. Telegram, iMessage, Viber, etc., had something similar for a very long time, so in the end it is also offered by this platform, and the improvements continue.
Synchronization of messages between devices is done even now, whether you use WhatsApp Web or the version for computers, and it lasts from a few seconds to a few minutes, depending on the number of conversations and messages we have with various people, and this thing will not change.
WhatsApp stores in its servers information about messages and conversations since it can transfer everything between various devices without the phone on which the main account is logged in having the Internet, but it does so securely, so we don't have to worry about the possibility that they should be read.
