Coronavirus Romania New Number of New Cases August 8, 2022

The coronavirus continues to generate infections in Romania during this period, with large numbers of new cases registered every day, as expected by the authorities in our country, and the situation remains quite worrying, even if the growth has stopped, at least based on what we are told at the moment.

The coronavirus has generated so many infections recently that the incidence rates have increased accordingly, so we are talking about large numbers in terms of cumulative incidents for many counties in the country, but of course the situation is the most serious in Bucharest, with rates with an incidence of over 10/1000 inhabitants.

The authorities in Romania expect that the number of new cases of infection caused by the Coronavirus will continue to decrease in the next period, so that by the beginning of September the situation should be much calmer in Romania, even before school starts in full the country.

"In the last 24 hours, 4.689 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, 1.171 more than the previous day. 905 of the new cases in 24 hours are of reinfected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the first infection.

Distinct from the newly confirmed cases, following retesting of patients who were already positive, 192 people were reconfirmed positive.

In specialized health units, the number of people hospitalized in wards with COVID-19 is 4.299, 305 more than the previous day. Also, 274 people are hospitalized at ATI, 10 more than the previous day. Of the 274 patients admitted to ATI, 238 are unvaccinated.

Out of the total number of admitted patients, 657 are minors, 654 being admitted to wards, 102 more than the previous day, and 3 to ATI, 1 more than the previous day.

Until today, 66.193 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

Between 07.08.2022 (10:00) and 08.08.2022 (10:00) 14 deaths (9 men and 5 women) were reported by the INSP, with no deaths reported before the reference interval.

In the last 24 hours, 2.024 RT-PCR tests were performed (1.482 based on case definition and medical protocol and 542 on request) and 13.013 rapid antigen tests. Until this date, at the national level, they have been processed
13.345.780 RT-PCR tests and 10.889.266 rapid antigen tests.”
