ECDC has published a last-minute announcement that brings a lot of concern among many countries around the world, and this is because it brings to the attention of many people the fact that at the moment there are still more than 1 million new cases of Coronavirus in Europe, and thousands of deaths, very high numbers, in the context where there are vaccines.
ECDC says that 1.4 million new cases of Coronavirus were registered in the last week across Europe, down 23% compared to the previous week, but also 3.525 thousand deaths, down 41% compared to the previous week, which in theory is good news, but not if we think that we are still talking about many new cases in the future.
ECDC is constantly monitoring the situation in Europe, and said that the new subvariants BQ.1 and XBB represent a very big concern in the perspective of wave 7 of infections generated by the Coronavirus, the current small number of new cases being the effect of the warm days that are still being registered in Europe in this period of time.
ECDC continues to ask for great caution, especially since as the temperatures continue to decrease, the number of cases will increase substantially, including when it comes to the flu, and this is because this year a large number of cases of this kind are expected, in the context where there are no longer measures to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.
