Romanian Police searches for firecrackers and fireworks before New Year 2023

The Romanian Police officially announced today a massive action by which they are carrying out 153 home searches to discover explosive materials possessed, and possibly sold, illegally in Romania before the New Year 2023.

The Romanian Police wants to find out if there are Romanians who illegally possess firecrackers, fireworks, and other types of explosive materials that are to be used or sold before the New Year 2023, actions of this kind taking place every year in this period.

They started at 06.00. At the moment, 153 home searches are underway.

Individuals and commercial companies that have violated the regime of explosive materials are targeted.

The action takes place in Bucharest and the counties of Arad, Argeș, Bacău, Bistrita-Năsăud, Bihor, Brașov, Buzău, Brăila, Călărași, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Giurgiu, Harghita, Ilfov, Mureș, Olt, Prahova, Satu-Mare, Sibiu, Timiș , Tulcea, Vâlcea and Vaslui.

The operation benefits from the support of the Special Operations Directorate.

Police officers from the IGPR - Weapons, Explosives and Dangerous Substances Directorate, Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, Economic Crime Investigation Directorate, Transport Police Directorate, National Forensic Institute, Service for Interventions and Special Actions, as well as from within the DGPMB and county police inspectorates.

Gendarmes are also involved in the activities.

As part of the "Fireworks" action plan, up to this point, the Romanian Police has confiscated over 100 tons of pyrotechnic articles.
