The Ministry of Defense brings to the attention of millions of Romanians a series of new, last-minute official information, in the midst of war in Ukraine, and this is because extremely serious measures are constantly being taken to support the invaded country, an EU Foreign Affairs Council being developed in this sense these days.

The Ministry of Defense explains below what happened within this council, but also what decisions were taken in order to support Ukraine, in order to be able to face the constant attacks of the Russian army, below being provided all the details regarding what is to come happens in the future in the EU.

"On Monday, April 22, the joint session of the ministers of foreign affairs and ministers of defense from the EU member states took place in Luxembourg, within the Business Council. The Ministry of National Defense was represented at the work by the state secretary for defense policy, planning and international relations, Simona Cojocaru. During the session, European officials discussed the Russian Federation's aggression against Ukraine.

Context in which firm support for the neighboring country was reconfirmed. At the beginning of the meeting, the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, and the Ukrainian Minister of Defense, Rustem Umerov, had interventions via video conference. The dialogue highlighted the importance of a coordinated approach, as well as the need for continued multidimensional support to Ukraine in both the short and long term.

The essential role of the European Peace Facility was emphasized and the importance of the operationalization of the Assistance Fund for Ukraine was emphasized. Also, topics related to the EU's security commitments and the proposal to use, in support of Ukraine, the profits from confiscated Russian assets were also addressed. The important contribution of the EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine) was also highlighted.

At the same time, the topic of strengthening defense capacity at the European level was also discussed, based on the recent proposals of the European Commission regarding the European Defense Industry Strategy (EDIS) and the European Defense Industry Program (EDIP). In his speech, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense noted the urgent nature of the support for Ukraine, welcoming the approval of the Assistance Fund for Ukraine.

The Romanian official emphasized our country's firm support for Kiev, highlighting the efforts made in the field of training, within EUMAM, as well as the establishment of the European F-16 Training Center in Romania. Regarding the support for the anti-aircraft defense of Ukraine, the importance of the fruition of the cooperation developed at the EU-NATO level was highlighted. "Romania will remain a staunch supporter of Ukraine for as long as necessary."
